About Us
A community that refuses to give up on people
Za'kiyah House is a community-led, non-profit organization in the Pittsburgh area working to reduce homelessness, recidivism, and addiction — through caring relationships, holistic community support, and the practical tools people need to find freedom.

Our story
We began where hope was needed most — beside neighbors leaving incarceration, rebuilding after addiction, and grieving unthinkable loss. What started as one open door has grown into a network of residences, support groups, and outreach that meets people exactly where they are.
Everything we do is relational. We know that lasting change doesn't come from a program alone — it comes from belonging, from someone who believes in you, and from a community that stays.
What Guides Us
Our values
Dignity First
We honor the strength in every person. We empower, never rescue — meeting people as neighbors, not cases.
Community-Led
Our work is shaped by the people we serve. We stay responsive to the real, changing needs of our neighborhoods.
Holistic Support
We don't meet one need in isolation. Housing, healing, and connection go hand in hand on the road forward.
Rooted in Hope
We believe change is always possible. Hope is where the heart is — and it lives at the center of everything we do.

In loving memory
In loving memory of Richard Harris, Jr. — the one and only son of our founder, Ronna Davis-Moore. His memory is woven into every life this house touches.
